Roberto Rosas: Mexican lawyer, educator, businessman

 

Roberto Rosas, a Mexican lawyer, educator, businessman, and engineer, has been a Visiting Professor at St. Mary’s University School of Law since 1994 and Instructor of Law since 2000. He teaches courses in Comparative Law: Mexico and the United States and Current Legal Aspects of Doing Business with Mexico. A native of Guadalajara, México, Prof. Rosas has taught law (Family Law and Succession Law, among others) at the Universidad de Guadalajara, where he graduated at the top of his class. Prof. Rosas worked for various law firms in Guadalajara and later, he had established a solo practice. Wills and Estates is one of the legal services he has offered in his legal practice in Mexico. He has worked as a consultant to the Mexican government on public administration projects, the CEO of a business consulting firm, a business manager, an industrial engineer, and a canon lawyer. He has spoken at several conferences in Mexico, Spain, and the United States and is the author of numerous essays on the laws of those countries. He was recently elected director of the Commission on Legal Affairs for the Advisory Council of the Institute of Mexican Living Abroad where his main role is advising the President of Mexico in the design and formulation of the policies concerning the Mexican communities in the United States.

B.S., Electrical/Mechanical Engineering and Degree in Law, Universidad de Guadalajara, México. Postgraduate studies: Harvard Graduate School of Business, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Oxford (England) Centre for Management Studies. Graduate courses on comparative law of Mexico and the United States as well as canon law. Doctor of Law (SJD) at the Universidad Europea de Madrid.

Attorney at Law duly authorized to practice the profession in the United Mexican States according to the Mexican General Professions Act as per Professional Registration No. 1951513 issued by the General Professions Registry, and duly qualified to prepare a rendition of Mexican Law in all the states and the Federal District of Mexico.

  • Dr. Roberto Rosas received his law degree from the University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
  • He received his Doctor of Law degree at the Universidad Europea de Madrid.
  • He took post graduate classes at Harvard Graduate School of Business and the University of Massachusetts in the United States as well as at the Oxford Centre for Management Studies in England.
  • He is currently a professor of  law at St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas and has been teaching and conducting his research there since 1994.
  • He has spoken at and organized conferences in the United States, Spain, and Mexico.
  • He is the author of books and numerous articles covering the different legal aspects of the various countries where he has organized conferences. His articles have been published in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania 
  • He has experience in litigation and international arbitration in United States Courts.
